Red Light Effect, the self-described “small town Salford lads,” had stiff competition, but their track “Phosphorous” won our Song of the Week poll.

Staving off young upstart Kali Uchis and new singles from Interpol and Johnny Marr, Red Light Effect — who made a personal appeal to Marr on Twitter — took the crown and are now your Song of the Week champions. If you’re a fan of the ’80s and ’90s Manchester sound, you’ll be a fan of “Phosphorous.”

And if the were able to best Marr, Interpol, and Uchis, you know they’ve got some nice momentum going on.
