Going to rock and roll shows is easy.

Figuring out where to eat beforehand is a bit more difficult.

In advance of our free show tonight with Juiceboxxx at Thunder Road in Somerville, and our Saturday night hang sesh plans with Ash tomorrow at Brighton Music Hall in Allston, tireless food writer Marc Hurwitz dropped by indie617’s Morning Glory to discuss the best places to eat before the we hit up the gig.

For Somerville, the Boston’s Hidden Restaurants and Boston Restaurant Talk founder recommended Machu Chicken, J & J’s, and others. For Allston, Deep Ellum, Lone Star, and Garlic N’ Lemons were discussed, and both Hurwitz and host Michael Marotta shared a mutual love and lament for long-gone 2000s hot spot Reef Cafe.

They also talked about Theatre District and Chinatown gems, perfect for eats before shows at Royale, and just how to find that hidden gem on the fly as you’re walking down the street.

Roll like Florence and get into the hunger below.
