The Yankees are coming! The Yankees are coming! And Boston is hungry.

The Red Sox open their 2018 playoff push with the American League Divisional Series’ Game 1 this Friday night (October 6), so we invited food writer Marc Hurwitz of Boston Restaurant Talk and Boston’s Hidden Restaurants to swing by Morning Glory to discuss the best places to eat before and after the games at Fenway Park.

Hurwitz had plenty of suggestions for the neighborhood and its surrounding areas, most notably Citizen Public House & Oyster Bar on Boylston Street, El Pelón Taquería on Peterborough Street, and India Quality Restaurant on Commonwealth Avenue.

We also chatted about my personal faves Tasty Burger, Eastern Standard, and Tiger Mama, as well as Gyro City, Hojoko, and Hemenway Street staple Woody’s Grill & Tap. There were even a few recommendations a bit of a walk to or from the Fenway area, for those who’d like to avoid the crush of fans, like Flann O’Brien’s on Tremont Street and T. Anthony’s around Boston University.

Did we miss some? Probably! It was a lively chat, and many cool spots were noted and discussed.

Hurwitz also brought a few music recommendations with him, so we spun Stereophonic, Travis, The Verve, and Elbow in between food segments. He also had some news on Boston eatery closings, and spent the last minute of his visit talking about Vermont.
