Last week on Morning Glory we were surprised to remind ourselves that Oasis’ 1994 single “Supersonic,” released 25 years ago on April 11, was actually the Manchester Britpop band’s debut single. That’s one hell of a way to make an entrance, so we got to thinking: What are some of the other great debut singles of our time?

Enter Quesday.

Yesterday’s Quesday discussion exploded across Twitter, with indie617 listeners providing their favorites while we steered the conversation live on the radio. It was a great discussion, with a significant amount of listener input and feedback.

Among the popular noms were R.E.M.’s “Radio Free Europe”, Pixies’ “Gigantic”, Joy Division’s “Transmission”, Arctic Monkeys’ “I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor” and, of course, maybe the best answer of them all, “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers.

Check out a bunch of responses below via Twitter, and revisit the discussion in the latest Morning Glory podcast.
