Orville Peck might not be a household name right now, but we think that’s about to change. The anonymous musician, who released debut album Pony via Sub Pop in March, has delivered an awe-inspiring jolt of outlaw country that transcends both genres and categorization. We’ve heard the mystery man described as “goth-country” and “outlaw psych”, and his sound compared to everyone from Lana Del Rey and Mazzy Star to Roy Orbison and Chris Isaak.

For real.

However you process it, the one undeniable thing is the brilliance in Peck’s songwriting, and this morning on Morning Glory we decided to take his recent single “Turn to Hate” to indie617 listeners.

You guys were overwhelmingly “indie” on the track, pulling in 93 percent positivity. I’m pretty much obsessed with the man, the track, and the record, and I’m stoked indie617 listeners and yelling “yee-haw” along with me. Peck plays ONCE Ballroom in Somerville on September 19.

Listen to my introduction of the segment below after checking the Twitter results. And tune in to Morning Glory every weekday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., only on indie617.com.
