Last week we did a whole lot of reflecting on the best of 2019 so far, and included in the fun was a mid-year Song of the Week poll appropriately titled “Song of the Week of the Year (So Far)”. With the second-half of 2019 firmly in view, this week’s SOTW poll brings us back to the now — with a look at some cool stuff happening in the fall.

Among this week’s contenders are:

— A rock and roll stomper, nominated by Michael Marotta, from Philly’s Sheer Mag,who play The Sinclair on October 11;

— What Pelvis Costello calls a “certified bop” titled “Sister Buddha” by Belle and Sebastian, who play the House of Blues on Saturday;

— A post-punk firecracker nominated by Paul Driscoll from Fontaines D.C., who play Great Scott on September 8;

— And a new one from Spoon, nominated by Julie Kramer, called “No Bullets Spent,” which is included on the band’s forthcoming greatest hits album. They play the XFinity Center in Mansfield with Beck, Cage The Elephant, and Sunflower Bean on August 15.
