Folk-punk legends Violent Femmes put out a new record last week titled Hotel Last Resort, and play the Pavilion this Saturday with Ben Folds. So we figured we’d line the sweet spot in between by presenting their (kinda) new song “I’m Nothing” for this week’s game of Indie or Outtie.

The track was originally released 25 years ago, but Gordon Gano and the boys re-recorded it with pro skateboarder Stefan Janoski to be included on the new LP, and it’s political slant makes it all too appropriate for the modern age.

“‘I’m Nothing’ explores the modern conundrum of people needing to attach labels to other human beings,” states Femmes bassist Brian Ritchie. “We refute that in human terms and also with our music.”

Word.

Well turns out indie617 listeners are “Indie” on this one, but it was a closer poll than usual. Peep the results below.
