After last week’s Love Fame Tragedy blowout, a new Song of the Week poll arrives on this lovely Monday morning. And this one should be a pure rager, with four new contenders vying for the indie617 SOTW throne — with the cis dudes sitting it out completely.
Julie Kramer defends her crown by lining up with “All Mirrors” by Angel Olsen, the title track off the singer/songwriter’s forthcoming album that lands October 4, a few weeks before she plays Royale on November 19.
Up to the challenge are a trio of fresh tunes: HAIM’s sudden single “Summer Girls,” nominated by weekend host Pelvis Costello; a buoyant new one from Tegan and Sara called “I’ll Be Back Someday”, who play The Wang on October 25, as picked by Michael Marotta; and “I Don’t Want To” by newcomer Mal Blum, who just played Great Scott and released a new LP called Pity Boy, nominated by indie617 production coordinator Tommy O’Connor.
Peep the noms and cast ya vote below. The poll wraps up this Friday around 9:30 a.m. live on Morning Glory.
