August 1994 was a huge month for Oasis. Not only did the legendary British indie band release debut album Definitely Maybe on August 29 — more on that in a few weeks — but on August 8 they issued what would become one of their most famous songs, “Live Forever.”

On this, the anthem’s 25th anniversary, we paid tribute by discussing its impact as really the song that vaulted the Gallagher brothers into global stardom. It was the band’s first real chart hit both in the UK and US, and as their third single set the tone for the album was about to change… everything.

We also passed along a fun tidbit about Oasis’ debut Boston show, which came in October of ’94 at Local 186, the former Bunratty’s space on Harvard Avenue that now houses Wonderbar.
