Usually when we play Indie or Outtie on Morning Glory — our weekly segment where we select a new track and present it to listeners for a public vote on Twitter — we have a sneaking suspicion indie617 faithful will be “indie” (which means we love it). Just last week Foals’ new track “Black Bull” scored a whopping 88 percent on the favorable side.

But we wondered aloud what everyone would think of this week’s entry: Lana Del Rey’s cover of Sublime’s ’90s summertime classic “Doin’ Time”.

Would y’all be Lana Del YAY or Lana Del NAY?

Turns out, you guys dig it.

But it was close.

After 40 votes were cast — whoa, 40 oz to 40 votes to freedom? — Del Rey’s cover came in “indie” with 60 percent of the vote. “Hate all you want haters,” tweeted @Jonwahizzle.

This cover will appear on Del Rey’s forthcoming album, Norman Fucking Rockwell, which hits later this month. Peep the final Indie or Outtie results below.
