Our “Free Show” series has already delivered some notable performances in 2019, from Freezepop throwing a synth-pop dance party in the back room of Dillon’s to Speedy Ortiz delivering their noisy guitar-rock to an unsuspecting Irish pub.

This past Friday (August 16) it was Weakened Friends’ turn to display a beautiful racket in a non-traditional space, and the Portland/Boston trio did not disappoint. Packing the outdoor patio space of Dillon’s on Boylston Street, Sonia Sturino, Annie Hoffman, and Adam Hand ripped through a lively set that featured a handful of new songs alongside Weakened Friends’ known faves, including a bunch off last year’s excellent Common Blah LP.

Our fists were filled with Pacifico and our heads were filled with rock and roll, out under the stars on a Friday night in Boston’s Back Bay. It was a good time, yeah.

indie617’s Julie Kramer took some photos of the show, and you can view her full gallery below.

In the meantime, keep it locked to indie617 for word on our next “Free Show” — presented by Pacifico and powered by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.
