Boston food writer Marc Hurwitz dropped by Morning Glory on Thursday to discuss where to eat around New England this fall. But before we got into the goods, he delivered some news and views on the closing of Doyle’s, a Jamaica Plain institution that has been around since the 1880s. We also discussed the changing face of the Boston restaurant scene, whether new trends like food halls and breweries are affecting long-standing bars and restaurants, and neighborhood gentrification.

As for our planned fall preview, Hurwitz delivered the goods, citing fantastic eats Winthrop Arms, Flann O’Brien’s in Mission Hill, and Hull’s Mezzo Mare, as well as preferred Vermont destinations like Worthy Burger and Kitchen, Blackback Pub, and Hatchet Tap and Table.

For the full list, listen in below. And read Hurwitz on the local food scene every day at Boston Restaurant Talk and Hidden Boston. Also check out his Eight Cozy Restaurants and Bars for Cool Fall Days.
