The great American ’80s poet Ferris Bueller once opined that “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” And that’s the vibe we’re catching off the February edition of the Fenway Recordings Monthly, which airs this Thursday night (February 13) at 8 p.m. on indie617.com.

As the post-holiday and start-of-the-year doldrums begin to fade away, the live music scene around Boston begins to bloom. So DJ Carbo’s playlist gets you primed for who and what is coming to town — and what you might have just missed.

To celebrate what’s on the horizon, DJ Carbo serves up tracks from Longwave (February 20 at Great Scott), Sloan (February 19 at Brighton Music Hall), Bat For Lashes (February 17 at Royale; and pictured up top), Soulwax (February 27 at Royale), and more.

To recap what you might have missed, there’s servings of Tove Lo (this past Monday at House of Blues), Michael Kiwanuka (Tuesday night at Royale), and Oompa and Dutch ReBelle (Tuesday’s #HellaBlack at the BCA).

Carbo will also raise a glass to post-punk pioneers Gang of Four, as we’re still sad over the death of Andy Gill.

The Fenway Recordings Monthly airs on the second Thursday of each month, only at indie617.com. And find DJ Carbo spinning tunes at all the Fenway Recording Sessions live shows around the Boston area.
